A Full Second Floor Addition
This exciting home transformation involves a second-floor addition that will significantly expand the space and enhance the overall feel of the home. By removing the original roof and building upward, our client is gaining a whole second level of useable, liveable square footage.
Roofing Details:
- Once the old roof was off, we framed a completely new hand-cut roof, tailored to the unique angles and dimensions of the home
- To finish the new second story with character, we added skirt roof details that give the exterior an updated, polished look
A Whole New Level:
- We started by carefully removing the original roof to make way for a brand-new, full second storey
- Tearing off a roof on a lived-in home is always a challenge, especially when there are finished spaces below
- We put on our “tarpenter” hats, making sure everything stays dry and secure as the build progresses
More Space, More Comfort
The second storey will also feature two new bathrooms, offering extra convenience and comfort for a busy household. This project is about making the additional square footage more livable, efficient, and enjoyable.
Open Concept Living:
- Inside the main floor, we removed all of the interior walls to create a spacious, open-concept layout
- We installed flush steel beams, allowing for a completely open feel without lowering any ceilings or adding bulky support columns
Built to Support:
- To ensure the new second storey is well-supported, we poured new concrete footings to carry the load of the over-span beams above
- These structural upgrades give the home long-term stability and flexibility for how the family lives today while giving room and possibilities for the future
